Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer affecting the outer linings of the lungs, chest, abdomen, and the organs contained in those abdominal cavity. The form affecting the lining of the lung is known as pleural mesothelioma and the form occurring in the abdomen is known as peritoneal mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is most frequently caused by exposure to asbestos. A related but non-cancerous ailment from constant exposure to asbestos and asbestos particles is Asbestosis, which is described in more detail on a separate page on this site.
